It seems whenever there are static objects, _CrtDumpMemoryLeaks returns a false positive claiming it is leaking memory. I know this is because they do not get destroyed until after the main() (or WinMain) function. But is there any way of avoiding this...

If that proves too difficult ....
It generally leads to headaches (initialization order, de-initialization order etc) .
Not a direct solution, but in general I've found it worthwhile to move as much allocation as possible out of static initialization time .

When you look for memory leaks using some kind of "tool" like, for example, WinDbg, GlowCode or even the integrated Visual C++ leak reporter, what types of false positives can be reported?
In fact, GlowCode warns you against false positives. Depending...

This kind can be named....
There can be false positive here (in the sense that the memory not be freed.
One case where this would be a false positive is where to them from global variable).

I have a file which is in the .rar format and Norton keeps picking it up during a scan as a virus and only giving me the option in the drop down box of delete. I don't want to delete it and I don't want Norton to tell me every 15 mins to delete it (as...

I've been trying run Insure++ with some scientific code and it reports many errors, although to be fair it officially does not support K&R C and I don't know what having a lot of K&R functions has done to its evaluation process. The C and C++ code it ...

They of course help, but it takes quite a while to assert false positives.
By my experience all static (as well as runtime-) code analysis tools report many false positives (i tried some of them).

Hello,
I'm puzzled by this email message that gets quarantined by McAfee Secure Messaging Service (it's based on Postini) for no reason that I can think of.
Here are the Postini headers:
X-pstn-2strike: clear
X-pstn-neptune: 0/0/0.00/0

Trich is a hard one to figure out. Some people say that you can get it from hot tubs (I have a friend who swears that's how she got it), etc., but there isn't a lot of evidence to back that up.
Did they test her specifically for trich, or did her pap ...

I'm so that Birth Control can cause False-Positive results of some tests.
Back solely as a result from a regular pap, there is a good chance this is a false positive.

I have a file I KNOW is not a virus... KNOW, not THINK. I do not "think" it "might" be a virus, I know for a fact that it is not a virus. I'm not guessing here. I am 100% sure the file is not a virus. I don't know how much clearer I can be on this point...

Have the result, copy the url and post it here so we can see
when did you send it as false positive knew the risks from the outset?
So a positive scan result means suspicious, real malware or a false scan result means suspicious....
