Just read through most of the posts in the shortage of farmers thread and a few questions came to mind... What would your community be like with 90% less farmers? Illinois has ~ 75,000 farms according to the Ag Census... but only about 10% are > 10...

I read it in the Iowa Farmer Today. Looks to me like Ms Merrigan is quoting statistics without knowing what they mean. New Mexico has the highest average age of farmer/ranchers. Could that possibly be because most of us over 60 (or whatever age ) farm...

Also with the new stuff older farmersId say a shortage of farm help or farmers here would be very true.
To produce alot of food per farmer than we did just 10-20 years ago.
