Silly question its just i noticed an app posted along our street for a tree to be felled ''an ash'' the application states ...but the only thing is i noticed i cant see an ash in the garden of the adress only a mature beech tree but im not 100% sure there...

A lot of trees are being felled in Ennis over the last couple of months. The whole row near the Maid of Erin roundabout is gone, on the way to the Gort road, we have now the pleasure of looking at the unwashed windows of what i pressume is the school....

I obtained about 3 cords of this wood for free….. I am almost certain it is of the maple variety….... but I was curious if anyone out there could identify from the attached pictures if it is hard (sugar) or soft (silver)....there are almost no leaves ...

Red maple bark is more maples have smooth bark on most... .
So even as a forester this tree is really out of my knowledge i just have so little mape exp….as the tree grows and the trunk gets bigger the bark gets deeper and shaggier.

Besides, if a "killer" was used on the tree, then it is dead.
Cut the stump right from that ground level stump.
You forgot the roots which go everywhere to feed that tree.
Many cases they do.

That tree is no where near 400 yrs old and you a farmer who felled a 46" oak with a 14" b&c on a MS 026...the technique must have been called beaver cut to me.

If its conservation area you just need to give 6 weeks notification of your intention to remove the ....
Down load the forms and fill it in mate or call up the planning dept and ask the tree officer out for a meeting and discuss the tree.

Drove down the A23 towards Brighton and could not believe my eyes,for 3or 4 miles every single tree has been felled either side and central reservation,was a really nice stretch of road with some lovely trees ,now it looks like Mordor!really depressing...

Is this Handcross Hill your talking about? they have done it to turn it into 3 lanes going up and down the hill as that bit of road is terrible for traffic, but yeah it is a shame damm. .
