Added the added protection plan to my mazda 2 back in 2010 when we bought it. It was involved in a fender bender. the body shop called me to ask me if I had gotten the Added protection plan, which I replied yes I did. They said I better come down there...

Im not happy about the rust but I spent....
I had rust issues the day I brought the car home new and looked under it.
The protection plan was against rust? Pretty sure most new cars have a life time guarantee on rusting anyway....
I know the rocker and cab corners are a common thing that rust out badly. Im wondering what are some tips or tricks to help prevent them from rusting? Besides washing them good and keeping dirt/moisture off them?

Going to D.I.Y. paint job on a scratched rusted fender lol.... My next DIY project lol wish me luck! Got the paint code for my car color and got the aersol paint from an online site. How hard can it be? lol....Yeah, i did research the process on painting...

I am not sure how that would hold up over seal the metal and keep rust....
I am not sure, you can fill that with filler, but that side of the fender bolts to the frame rail.
As far as the pitting.
The inner fender walls with new metal.

I was thinking either that or just a simple can .
fender bender of like the rhino liner stuff made for rust protection.
Not unheard of for a brand new car to have small repairs and still sold as new .

And it drives much nicer too! One of the things that happen when using Bushwhacker fender flares and why I will never buy them again.
Doing my engine bay areas on my 1957 Roadmaster. Does anyone know exactly what kind of plating the fender to inner wheel well bolts were plated with - You know the ones with the thin square unique washers? Perhaps clear silver zinc plating like new bolts...

The fender sheetmetal frequently see rust in ....
At the rear edge of the fender (the door gap) you have the fender and closing panel sandwiched together.
Creates the fender/closing panel joint you were inquiring about.
Finally got this thing together. Was kinda going for a relic rod.. modern feel feature kinda thing... I love it. I don't think you can see all the details in the pics but i think you can get a good idea. Went together really smooth no shimming or anything...

I had rust on the hatch....
Hatch rust may be able to be sanded and fixed, or may classes.
