There are plenty of people out there to fight otherwise.
There is no reason to fight a teammate unless it is a title fight or number 1 contender fight.

In the early 2000's fighting games died. The serious fighting game players had their 2 titles they adored: Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 3. Both very hard to pick up, a very very steep learning curve, but also very very rewarding for skilled players...
