Filing for Chapter 11 is actually considered a responsible thing by creditors and can improve your credit score in the long run. Their is nothing wrong or embarrassing about it, and is the fastest solution you can take.

What happens to bankruptcy?
My husband and I recently filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy and it has yet to be discharged. What happens to the debt should I get a REALLY well paying job?

Bankruptcy?
I think it is pretty unusual for them to take personal items. I would almost guarantee your aquarium is safe, and probably the TV as well. If you had any really valuable jewelry it might be different, but I think they would be looking for something more valuable than a used TV, nice as it is.

What to do if creditor harrasses you after filing chapter 7 bankruptcy?
Reiki Chick must not know the laws or simply don't care, otherwise she would have known that BK7 DISCHARGES debts, meaning that trying to collect on them is illegal. Trying to do so is a violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act and Bankruptcy Laws. Oh, and she should also know that debt collectors ARE evil. They are some of the worst people on earth outside of violent criminals.
Your best bet is to talk to the lawyer who handled your BK. If they continue trying to collect on a debt discharged in BK they will find themselves paying you for FDCPA violations and your legal fees.

I am 22 and want to file for bankruptcy?
Yes it can make it worse, plus it is a lot harder to declare bankruptcy. What you need to do is contact all of those collectors and see what kind of payment plans you can get on. After that get a second job put all of the money from the second job towards the lowest balance debt and pay the minimum on the rest. You'll be able to pay the stuff off in less than 7 years, which is how long your credit will be destroyed for if you do declare bankruptcy.
