I personally wouldn't clean my filter that often, i clean mine about every 3-4 months as far as im aware the only media i think you would need to change is the carbon and sponges but not sure how to change the filter wool every 3 ....

How exactly do yall do this? Siphon some out into a bucket and dip it and slosh it around in there or take out all your baskets of your canister filter and rub it in the water left in the filter canister? I've done this but it never seems like it does...

Meaning, I would not try to "sterilize" an entire filter as if it were new, just clean the media for HOB and sponge filter....
Works for me, obviously your routine will depend on your filter and media.
Rinse in bucket 2.

A lot of us on here have them on our skippy of the bottom of your filter.
Of furnace filter that looked like a giant scrubber pad, but turns out it was biodegradable so filter, you might want to think about adding a flush valve.

CheapForget eheim that's just a brand- go to lfs and get some media there are loads to choose a 2217 and what a great filter....
If you want cheap ebay external filter media.
Anything else branded is just the same as unbranded.

Works mint! The best it removes things....
New or used filter that came with media, I use a small amount of bio media, foam pads and Filter floss as my last filtration step.
You're welcome I use whatever is cheap.
It comes out.

Yes i can see CO2 bubbles getting in the filter inlet....
CO2 in the filter inlet now..
People have been doing it that way for awhile.
But for that to happen your filter would vapor lock first.
Only if it over gasses the media.
