Macro filtered reef water? I am wondering if it is possible to utilize specific algae to "filter" water for use in a reef tank. I ordered several different algae from reef cleaners (hopefully getting it today ) and will be using it in my display mixed...

Rinsing filter in filtered water
Just supposing my filter needs cleaning and there is no tank water available, could I rinse my filter in filtered water?

Why not just siphon out some ....
Why not just siphon out some water from the tank, and top it up with dechlorinated tap-water? Makes the fish happiere too, as they get a small waterchange of filtration.
Depends on what sort of filtration.

There's no telling what "filtered tap water" is.
I bet there are 100ppm + in that filtered water they are drinking.

Basicaly TIME is your freind ....
After that I add petrol and cetain boost and acitone .
I then filter at ambient temp down to aprox 1mic.
Then pan tested for water and or boiled at at least 119c in a roling boil for in my case 3 hours .
