According to an answer from here , artificial neural networks are obsoleted by Support Vector Machines, Gaussian Processes, generative and descriptive models. What is your opinion?

They're quite good at detecting patterns, so people still use that, but I found a NN to be a perfectly acceptable... .

Surprised nobody has chimed in with this one yet, but I used an artificial neural network to attempt to predict the financial markets ( FOREX )....
It is written in .NET.
I know 3 good Neural-Network libraries:
AForge is my favorite.
