I just installed google chrome and realized that there was an option to migrate all my passwords from firefox. Surprisingly it actually did migrate all of my passwords seamlessly.
So here's my question: if chrome can do it, why couldn't any other ...

I'm not sure exactly the method - it probably password....
Firefox uses the master password in some way to encrypt your other passwords.
Firefox passwords are secured using a master password (if you set one).

After you enter a password you get the popup asking if you want to save passwords and not save history; but, having to enter a name and password here at TechGuy was extremely places.sqlite....
passwords is also empty, I assume.

Hello
For some reason, on my laptop, firefox never remembers any passwords I type in browser forms - for example gmail, ubuntu forums, etc.
It happens both on 11.10 and 12.04, with the default firefox (I haven't changed any settings).
What can I do?

If there is a form with more than one password field, Firefox 3.5 will remember only one password.

Hey, I was surprised to see that sandboxie doesn't have the option to allow direct access to firefox passwords. What code would I add to allow access to key3.db and signons.sqlite?

One may like and Firefox don't *require* you to set a master password to enable showing of your passwords.
Firefox's password manager is that you can see what the username and passwords you have saved.

Wouldn't a password manager resolve the issue for masking passwords as a practice:
Even though they shouldn't, many users often use the same password password....
If not, then that is the problem, not the masked passwords.
