If there is an update button or a button that allows you to select update files, you can do it yourself (provided the download is available from Linksys.

Otherwise, if it's a Windows based installer, I would suggest creating a WinPE/BartPE boot CD... .
Try www.bootdisk.com for some downloadable ones.
If it's a DOS based installer, you can use an Boot CD instead - the CD just needs to have DOS booting on it .

When you are back in, go to Preferences and select your HD as startup disk .
Select the MacOS drive to boot.
Hopefully your HD will be one of the boot options .

Firmware receives very little attention when it comes to updates. Out of sight, out of mind.

If it's a critical update and fixes a problem ran into issues....
firmware upgrade you'll find it classifies the update as critical, important or whatever is that I will not apply a firmware upgrade without a very good reason.
