I'm in Massachusetts and I'd like to know what is the best way to prevent fleas and ticks on cats and dogs. We were using Frontline on both, but someone said switching to Advantage was the way to go. Then we found out we can't use that on cats. The fleas...

For dogs there are three good products...frontline, advantix issues with fleas....
I work at a vet in Massachusetts, so am well aware of how bad the fleas/ticks are!
For cats we recommend frontline for fleas and ticks.

Better to get a flea....
fleas and tick will just live in your vacuum and crawl back out! the best bet is to bath the cat the adult ticks and fleas but don't be surprised if you need to repeat the bath due to the life cycle it.

Wow, that is scary, we have been fighting fleas all spring on our dog and cat, we it up either.
If you get food grade you don't have to worry about them licking is seriously frustrating .
To treat fleas/ticks directly.

We try hard to avoid toxic junk, tho we had to resort to a small dose on the dogs, not the drops, that stuff is horrid, but the tablet form.
Anyway, I also mixed up 1/4 cup of peppermint oil & a 1/4 cup of lavender oil & 2 cups of water in a spray bottle...

We have to bomb the house alot, the dogs seem to be flea magnets and track them in all every flea on them.
The fleas hate it.

I had my Golden Retriever out for a walk off of Beechwood Rd. near Thorold Stone and we were only 5 minutes away from the truck when I noticed a Tick on her. By the time we got home I had taken about a dozen off of my clothes...
