Here's another dumb question.
Is there a way to search in windows explorer for just folders?
I know folders get sorted to the top, but I'm always looking for that extra option...

Edit: If you've got the dog the following to the search:
type:"file folder"
eg: searchterm type:"file folder"
If you use the command prompt....
Your search results will now only include folders.
And choose Folder.

I'd like to exclude certain folders (and all their subfolders) from searching within Eclipse, is this possible?

Instead, create a working set with the folders you want to include in the searchThe quick and dirty way:
Right click on a folder, go to properties, and mark a folder as derived only those entities you want....
Problems in other areas.

The built-in Windows Search tool will apparently not search within PHP files. I cannot find the files named *.php containing text "some_function_name" that I know are there.
"Search is complete. There are no results to display."
What's a good alternative...

Right click on Search Folders and select New Search Folder...
I use Xobni for this purpose.

The search box in the bookmarks bar only searches the bookmarks themselves, yet I have arranged the bookmarks into folders and subfolders. Sometimes I can't see the folder that I know I have, so I would like to do a search for it. Even if I find a bookmark...

I've got a strange problem with Spotlight. If i include pdfs in the search, spotlight will not at same time search for folders.
Deselect pdfs and it finds folders again.
I reindexed Spotlight a number of times but not change.
I'm running 10.7.3 on a MacBook...

If you say "Kind is PDF", then anything that is not a PDF (for example, a folder in folders....
If I search any other phrase it won't find any folders if pdfs the search down.
For:
kind:folder
It finds folders.

For Windows I've used Agent/lines mentioned in the search....
It even has regex support.
On Windows Notepad++ for this.
If it's on a Mac, TextWrangler is rather fantastic for multi-file search with grep.

To create a new saved the option Save search` and it will save as a "Search Folder"
Just like on Vista:
Navigate to Start -> Search....
Are here - This should be the same as the "Search Folder" feature of Vista.
