They should be pretty close;
2 isn't comfort or ....
Here the "top tube" length of your regular bike with the folding model.
And folding models have the widest range of ride quality and build quality of any other type of bike.

I bought a folding bike on ebay for about £170 a few years ago. It is a cheap chinese thing; cheap in quality and in price. It looks good but the ride was disappointing...

I don't think there's any harm in having a cheap folding bike for a bit (as long it's safe) so you can by the failings of a cheap bike and assume that these are the problems of folding bikes in general.

This is maybe a dumb question, but why does a bike with less than 1000 miles need a new bottom bracket
