Is it safe to refreeze food that has thawed? I always thought it was dangerous but I googled it and all I can find are articles saying it can affect the quality of the food.

If it has already been cooked then you can't re-freeze.
You need to cook it, then you can re-freeze.

As the title suggests I'm wondering what the "shelf life" of frozen foods are once thawed out. The cubes I have are just a little too much for one feeding so I usually end up throwing the rest out in fear of overfeeding but would save a ton of trouble...

Mostly I'm trying to save the left over food.
With fresh saltwater, some phytoplan, and a few cubes to let thaw in the fridge once a week then take a half temp for a few minutes, just enough to thaw the cube.
