Why is french bread made by any of the supermarkets nothing like that made by a boulangerie in france.
What i mean is those baguettes made with french flour. Those you get in france are lovely soft inside and really crispy outside.

I think that is why the French seem to stay so slim, because and Spencer's and Waitrose's baguettes are the nearest I have come to proper French bread.

I love Denny's french toast when properly prepared. At my neighborhood Denny's I estimate a less than 50-50 chance it will be prepared properly. The problem seems to be that the cooks are so pressed for time that they just slap the bread briefly across...
