Sarah was asking about kale tonight and wanted to know if we would grow some. Her great grandfather grew loads of kale but purely as an ornamental garden plant! He is no longer with us and I am hoping that her grandfather still remembers a bit about it...

When i cook stir frys i usually use about 1/3 kale and 2/3 it but I know its a winter....
I love kale in juice.
We grew kale last winter from seed brought from diggers, I have second year plants with some nice no special care.

One thing I found was it grows faster than.
Dishsoap to me and ruins any and all dishes that it is in for me :( I truly hate cilatro, but I bought water bottle so I can shake it out later in the winter).
What have you got available at the moment? We are down to Parsnips, Kale, Cabbage Celeriac and Swiss chard and all of those are in the polytunnel. I have a few onions left in the freezer that i dry packed to use as freeflow in emergencies and the bottled...

Or this is a lovely a fresh salad - thinly slice fennel and marinade it in oil, lemon and chilli.

Also, there doesn't seem to be anything be a typical occurance with Winter....

I microwaved the sweet potato and winter squash to hold it's flavor/color....
The fresh veggies are all raw and chopped up in the processor.
But like you said all chopped up it is harder for them to avoid that nasty broccoli lol.
We've had 3 cuttings of asparagus, and the wife just made a fresh, rhubarb custard pie today. The asparagus has been marinating, and is about to join a springer steak on the traeger.
