I would argue that in general, high GPA and comparatively low SAT is better than a high SAT and comparatively low GPA for admissions purposes, and that therefore more commonly told on this....

3.5 isn't low though.
With low GPAs are one or more of the following:
1) African-American (Clarence Thomas)
2) Hispanic
3) Legacy (Just about every politician)
4) Athlete Pretty much that.

I attended a very good junior college that sends students to Harvard, Yale, Oxford... I completed 77+ hr (bio 1-2, physics 1-2, chem 1-2, ochem 1-2), earned a 3.7 GPA. (with 3.8 science)
I transferred to The University of Texas at Austin ( BS in Neurobiology...

Right now, as a junior, I have a 92/100 average.. I know it could be better, but it's because my freshman year gpa is really low (87?) My sophomore year I had a 96 average, and this year I have a 93 so far, but I think I can raise it to a 95 by the end...

I never went to college to get a degree. I took college courses, but I only cared to be in them, not what my final grade was (but I always found it amazing I got really high marks when I didn't give a shit about marks... seems unfair).
