I know what a CPU is(I think). It's the thing who's speed is measured in GigaHertz(these days).
However, you hear a lot about a GPU, and letting the GPU take over, not letting the CPU but the GPU do it, GPU-based rendering, etc...
What is this GPU anyway...

I decided to try GPU folding with this EVGA GTX 480 superclock I'm using while my 7970 is out for RMA.
Temps hit 97 degrees celcius 5-10 minutes after starting up GPUFAH before I shut it off. It kept climbing relatively slowly from 95 and I'm concerned...

Apparently, in Flash 10, you can use the GPU to calculate shaders, and if the user doesn't have a compatible gpu, it falls back to the cpu. The problem is that the cpu is very slow to calculate the filters, it would be nice to detect if it can't use the...

Windows platforms to use hardware acceleration and there is no such distinction in OpenGL for.

APIs such as Direct3D and DirectSound need to interact with hardware, ....
On the "Display" tab:
Use GPU-Z though it will only tell you for what type of DirectX be gradually phased out in favor of newer APIs, drivers, and hardware.
