With that rig your bottleneck will become the Hard Drive for the next 2 or 3 years (for the time VS2010 stays with us) .
Much better than my current one which has a similar VS2008 launch speed to yours .
Very sexy.
I like your proposed setup.

I do not mind waiting a month or two for Ivy Bridge, but I am wondering if it is worth getting over the 2600K/2700K and if it risky to ...

Cougar, be quiet!, Enermax....
Go for a decent power supply from a quality vendor, not for cheap crap with absurd wattage ratings .
There's nothing wrong with the board, I'm just curious why you went for it .
Can I ask why you went for the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO .

The last time I did this was back in the day of the AMD Athlon XP3200, ATI Radeon 9800XT and the nVidia nForce2 motherboards. I used the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe and it was an awesome machine for it's day. The onboard nVidia "SoundStorm" (was that the name??...

A i7-2600K and a Z68 board would be good for this build maybe a Asus, Gigabyte, or ASRock motherboard? A decent SSD with 8-16GB of memory would be a good thing but can be upgraded if money comes... .
