The blue color is just as intense in both.
Correction: the second picture is a San Francisco Garter, but is still closely related to the Neon Blue California Red Sided Garter (from my understanding).

I love snakes!!! The motion in the first really makes it stand out.

Garter snakes can eat fish, but live fish.
