It seems Network Rail has given up running Gatwick Airport Station from yesterday and handed it to Southern. As Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink are all about to be merged it was sensible this happened.

Rumours going around that someone has committed suicide, or been murdered in the booking office queue at Gatwick Airport station this morning.

The airports you mention are all between 25-35 miles from the university, with Gatwick Airport being to or from Southend and wasn't even aware they had an airport so can't comment on that one.
