It seems to me that releasing the prisoners and closing Gitmo was a campaign to extract ourselves from the war in Afganistan.

Hard to conceal a car bomb and get it to GITMO as apposed
to Miramar.

Why not just move the prisoners at Gitmo to Midway or Wake Islands?
These places are:
(1) Isolated, more so than even Gitmo
(2) Still close to an American state -- Hawaii...
