BUT..every year i like my kids to give a personal less expensive gift to. I'm not sure a male teacher... DD(7) has a male teacher this year. I am a preschool teacher.  Most parents give a small gift and some do not.  It is not required and believe me teachers are not expecting anything.  I have received gift cards for different things I always give the teacher end of the year gifts. Amount and size depend on how much we liked
