Go into your Gnome session and in the terminal, open ~/.xinitrc (or create it if it isn't there already) using your editor of choice:
$gedit ~/.xinitrc
add this to it:
#!/usr/bin/env bash exec gnome apt-get install gnome-session ubuntu....

I just wondered if anyone else is experiencing that Gnome 3 (gnome-shell) sometimes doesn't repaint window content. I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 and installed Gnome 3 instead of Unity. When I run Gnome in fallback mode this doesn't happen.

That guy is the epitome of computer geek.
After all is said and done, why would you want to use KDE or GNOME site...
But it's more of a hobbiest type of project.

I think both Unity and Gnome 3 show promise.
Ubuntu 11.10 is very usable.
You've got to look at where driver.
I think both Unity and Gnome 3 are very, very beta.
And functional.
