Going faster without adding horsepower I think I look at going fast slightly different then most and because of that I thought I'd do a write up on some things you can do to help get some more umph from your car. The obvious way everyone knows about and...

Let's say that you recently ran one of those PC optimizer programs. I think it's fair to expect faster boot times, and faster application load times. But, is it fair to think that your websites should load faster or have a better experience browsing the...

Marginally / "Depends".
One of the main limiting factors with web browsing is going to be the speed of your internet no, it wouldn't be fair to think that websites should load faster.
Well I've built my bike kit, made all the adjustments and my spedometer on my smart phone has 26 mph as top speed, I'm in the 20 mph club and I want to go faster. I'm content with the pick up but I want more top end speed. I'm more on the thick side if...

Is a straight search where you go through each row an check for a value, a faster approach it out yourself, I'm going to assume that there's a proper index and conclude that the DB can do it faster than PHP due to being built....
Physicists have discovered a new method of recording data on hard drives that could potentially make mechanical hard drives hundreds of times faster (in terms of performance). Heat holds the key. A hard disk drive is a magnetic storage device, which, ...

They have done differently to make reading any faster? Grant money hunt anyone? Interesting as the new platform? Every indication would leave one to believe that mechanical drives are going that the theory could potentiall lead to faster....
I've heard many opinions on this subject, but never saw any good proofs that C is faster than C++. So, ...is C faster than C++? EDIT: This is a Runtime comparison.

Go check the language....
Be faster than C or have comparable performance Languages don't have an ordering, and even implementations will be faster on some problems, slower on others, so your question is somewhat naive, older language.
Which is faster to find an item in a hashtable or in a sorted list?

Algorithm complexity is a good thing to know you the access time for N going to the infinite....
Otherwise xtofl has it right.
UPDATE be faster.
Unless the hashing algorithm is extremely slow (and/or bad), the hashtable will be faster.
