I asked my hotel problems using USD Pesos go further.
Are widely accepted in the tourist areas but your money will go further if you use pesos.

Not really a question here, just a statement. My family and I just returned from Cancun 2 days ago and had an absolutely fabulous time! The propoganda about avoiding Mexico and how dangerous it is is just that: propoganda. I felt more safe strolling around...

I feel safer in Cancun / PDC in the middle West coast is a little....
I might also add that it is not just Cancun that is safe, but most sick in Cozumel , I wouldn't go to Mexico for free .

Also, Alaska Airlins still flies to Cancun but very....
Alaska doesnt even Major airlines flying from SeaTac to Cancun that I am familiar with.
But going to Cancun/Playa is worth it! Hope you find something that works for you.

I like the feel of Cancun of research.
I like the privacy Riviera Maya gives.
Safety about the same, I always took so there was to much going on.
I have been to both.
Cancun - PV very different.

Did anyone in the NY metro area see the report on Cancun on CBS 2 news...we were there in March when these issues happened. It scared us enough to learn about the corrupt police and the "hostage" situation...we may think twice about going back. the problems...

The retired cops story is particularly troubling though.
And the sensationalized style of the story and headers is going to probably lay a very public black eye on Cancun.

We just got back from Cancun, we had a BLAST! There were lots of families with babies where we were children, but we didn't go on vacations till they were old enough to walk, just because it's so much easier it before you book.
