You could put landscape layout xml files in “res\layout-land” and portrait in “res....
You could force android to choose the proper layout depending on orientation .

The title is pretty self explanatory. I'm using cfcontent in ColdFusion 7 to output a page as an application/msword file type and I want to know how to make it default to landscape mode without resorting to downloading a third party library.

Actually, you should still be able.
Wouldn't really be that hard to do using a grid the UIImageViews you want to show .
In landscape mode you are on your own.

Has anyone here ever attempted to construct your own landscape lighting fixtures?
I'm thinking one could build them out of PVC pipe if you could figure out a way to seal them against the weather. I'm sure the electrical components could be found online...

8x20" is a good size, but I'd like the horizontal line.
Love it! Can't really offer good advice since I'm not an abstract painter, but paintings like these tend to have more effect when they are done on large canvases.

There are many different materials available for creating a landscape, some of these are obviously better than others in different situations for various reasons. Some are good for forming the base of the landscape others are good for the shell.
