I'm considering a ThinkPad X200. There's a 128 GB SSD option, and since I'm a huge fan of the Intel X25-M SSD I've been using on my older X61s, I'm thinking of going with that.
I am kind of worried because I've read a lot of discussion of SSDs online ...

Compared to the X25-M you're used to it will be a fair bit slower .
You can find it's specifications here.
It comes with a Samsung 128GB Flash SSD.

Before you Read this, please note that you may not be capable of running all the little shortcuts/perks I did/do with my setup. You are more then welcome to try everything I suggest and see the improvements for your self but due to being busy with school...

Not in a desktop environment anyway.
I would say that heat isn't an issue for regular hard drives either .
So no, not really.
SSD's produce less heat than a regular hard drive.

Although all my data is on my NAS and I have weekly images of my SSD I wouldn't want the hassle of getting on the disk being portable....
As good seeing as TRIM won't work when drives are in a RAID configuration (the Intel controllers pass.

PCLapCounter might support it already releases his version for SSD , SSD Console is probably your best bet.
SSD Console is the only thing for it, as far as I know.

I was going to get a 90GB SSD for my boot drive. But after doing alot of reading. It appears that a cached solution offers similar performance in boot time & app launch time as a stand alone SSD. With the only real downside being that, you have to launch...

There's indeed a good difference in speed between only using the HDD vs SSD caching, but only using ....
I just don't see the point now, SSD's are getting have too much softwares.
Then the cache drive is a good alternative.
