I have used both Loquendo robotic synthesis.
I know espeak is a very good text-to-speech program for linux (it can even do different accents!), but I don't know of any speech recognition systems designed for UNIX.

When someone requests a speech, Easy-Speak gives no indication that anything has happened (at least in the view of a regular club member). Obviously, the speech appears in the Queue, but only the VPE, Meeting Manager, and Club Officers can see it.

The only people that are going to be swayed by a good speech are the people who are genuinely leaning one way who changes their mind based on the speech (Rick in SP).
