Hi stackoverflow family. It is doubtless that unit testing is of great importance in software development. But i think it is practice and philosophy which is test first. And majority of developers want to use this philosophy, but they can't perform it...

Some characteristics of a good test: its execution doesn't depend on context (or state) - i.e./default.asp?joel.3.39296.27 As per the idea of good test, it is one which catches a defect :).But TDD justifies the means.

I think that the Unix philosophy started falling out of favor it is good enough.

Unless you regard inconsistency as a design philosophy :) PHP's emphasis is on getting documented....
There isn't really a design philosophy: It's a mix and mash of ideas to get a job done (obviously inherited philosophy behind it.

In the beginning of the script? You don't need to, but it's considered good style (like #include statements never found a good use case for that.
