I've got a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 (64 bit) and for some reason the Google search field in the Firefox toolbar always searches google.jp. Given that I'm in Australia and struggle to read Japanese this is somewhat less than useful to me. Does anyone...

There's nothing you can.
The toolbar and other devices like that are intended to protect users from unwanted handler, the toolbar (and other blockers) will assume that the popup is suspect.
A pop-up blocker.

Agree 100%, will not upgrade to Firefox 5 until the toolbar works, get with the program Google well though for me,,, other than this goog I use the Google toolbar translator as part of my 5 and my Firefox 5 has the Google....
