Sample Chatter Excerpts
Does Ubuntu suck?
Personally, one of the features I like so much about Linux in general is the minimalist install. My hard drive only has what I want on it, not every possible item available.

Is my harddrive totally busted?
If your hard drive isn't showing up in the OS, then most likely it isn't being detected on your system via the BIOS. Check your BIOS settings and make sure that the hard drive is listed when it is booting up. If it isn't, there is an error with your bios settings, or there is a physical problem with the cable, or the controller card on your HD has died.

Replace windows primary hard disk without reinstall?
You can use Acronis to image your existing drive and then clone it to your new drive. It also allows you to easily resize the new partition depending on the size of your new drive. If you don't like TrueImage, you can try other disk-cloning software like Ghost or the PING livecd.

Moving OS from one drive to another?
You have plenty of viable options available, even for free. I've had trouble with Gparted before, and it isn't designed for cloning as it's primary focus. Depending on what model drives you have, you can get a free version of Acronis TrueImage that will do it for you. Clonezilla is also a free alternative that can easily move your install.
