Its main just about any other spell checker ....
It can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker.
Did you try GNU Aspell ? GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell.
I want to process a medium to large number of text snippets using a spelling/grammar checker to get a rough approximation and ranking of their "quality." Speed is not really of concern either, so I think the easiest way is to write a script that passes...

Have you taken a look at the Xinha project? I believe that has spell check and possibly grammar.

Don't need it as I use Firefox as my browser and it has built-in spell checker. As for grammar, many posts (both Q & A) would not get posted if people had to think before submitting... lol

Word has an excellent grammar checker "fat finger" a key on....
