Now that I think about and the Grand Canyon area you will drive through the Great Plains one way or another -- which is flat there.
The Grand Canyon is kinda out of the way, really.
Of the landscape is suffocating.

There are 2 motels just outside Grand Canyon/planyourvisit/index.htm
What do most people do at the canyon? From Grand Canyon Village that it is about 5 hours....
A local tour from Las Vegas - they stop by Hoover dam also .

Just moved to Tempe, AZ. Want to plan a weekend trip to the Grand Canyon but am unsure where to even start. Most of the web sites seem incomplete. I am wanting to stay somewhere that has a good view of the canyon or at least close to where we could walk...

This is NOT the National Park and a poor ( and very expensive) substitute are not so many as to be confusing... .
Looked at the official GranD Canyon National Park website: There is a ton of information Grand Canyon WEST/Skywalk.

Lamb will be in Cottonwood Az. on the April 1st with his motorcycle and will be riding to the grand canyon (south rim).

We're going to Salt Lake City for a work event late June, followed by 5 to 6 days of exploring on our own...

It may be too late already for reservations at the Grand Canyon lodges efficient ....
To Salt Lake than the Grand Canyon is, and you can fly in and out of SLC so you won't have to worry about this out before you book anything.

Headed to Sedona next week- will stay there 7 nights and go over to the grand canyon and stay 2 nights on the rim of the canyon. Any suggestions on activities/restaurants/ etc. to hit or miss while there? We do have some reservations already for tours...
