Which do you recommend?
Reading source code from opensource applications really helps me improve my programming skills.
I have read source code from Hudson and StructureMap, and they inspired me a lot. I can't wait to see some more from WinForm applications...

I was pretty surprised with how involved the CloudPad GUI was .
I've heard they are moving to WPF for next release .
I believe Paint.NET is/was a WinForms app.
You could look at SharpDevelop , which has also has a book published about it .

I am making the distinction between User Experience and pure User Interface (UI) design here, even though there is usually a tie-in. You can have great user interaction even with a ‘boring’ grey interface, (note that it is not a requirement!).

Nope, desktop applications....
Can truly replace desktop applications, but I have no doubt it will happen at some point and gaming might be a bit too heavy for a web application, but I think that many applications will eventually.
