They were the same series and size (8" A Series Splash), but one was new, the other was used (but in good shape) and the other was pretty old.
I tested the...

@TMF agreed

That being like to think the hallmark of a great cymbals is that they will not sound the same.
Paiste cymbals tend to be extremely consistent.
And their sound will vary from cymbal to cymbal.

Adding air to cymbals I often read about adding "air" to cymbals during tracking. How is this done? Last edited by frosty55; 01-12-2012 at 01:58 AM . Reason: Spelling error

Do your drums....
Using a small diaphragm condensor over the kit is going to sound as great as your drums sound.
Do stereo overheads.
Do you know how great a two track recording of drums can sound? Pretty great.

Hi,
I am not concerned with tone, I am concerned with which cymbal will last me the longest, or I can get the most replacements from. Any help is appreciated.

I don't really mind as I don't think as it leaves a very cloudy, sometimes... .
It Zildjian Cymbal Cream is great as well, just don't use it on traditional finished cymbalsYeah Sabian's stuff does turn the cymbal a more yellowish hue.
