I've acquired a craigslist treasure (sarcasm), an old (1984) Grizzly 2 hp dust collector. I wanted it solely for the motor/blower assembly. It is currently wired 120v and I want to rewire to 240v. There is no ground wire evident in the existing wiring...

The purpose of the ground wire is to ground the exterior case of the motor from the ground wire in the new cord?
I have restored a lot of much older machines that were never.
AFAIK, that will do it.

I know it seems the pots are usually the standard place to solder pickup ground wires, but some also use the output jack, and Fender is fond of using the tremolo claw. Is there any reasoning behind where you solder the ground to, or does it really matter...

Found out the hard way our 1940 Model 60S has a positive ground 6V system.
1940 Cadillacs have a "negative" ground electrical system ? This would be most interesting, as most pre-war GM cars had a POSITIVE ground system.

I have installed a stainless steel claw. I am having difficulty soldering the ground wire to the claw - it won't stick. I plan to rough up the surface a bit, but should I just give up and accomplish grounding the bridge some other way?

I put in a new conduit run to my attached garage. I was simply going to add 2 GFCI outlets, each on their own 20a circuit in the same box (one for my table saw, one for compressor). The conduit is standard EMT. I am going to pull 2 white, and 2 black ...

Should I also pull a green ground wire? I know the EMT carries the ground, but is it a good failsafe to add another ground wire and bond it to the box? Unnecessary, bad, illegal, etc? IMO below.
Their own breaker.
