What string guage at C standard has roughly the same tension as a set of 9's in E standard or 14's in A standard on a 25.5'' scale?

You gotta remember though, 13s, 11s, 12s, etc is just talking about the small E string.
Recently picked up and SG. I normally play Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-42's on the majority of my guitars. I might add, i mostly have Fenders, and Strat type guitars at the moment. Anyways, i had my SG set up for and strung with 9's. It's fantastic but ...

Same string gauge I prefer....
My R0 requires more effort to play, for some reason .
As far as best string guage IMHO - .010s that, and it's really smooth to play.
From your Fenders will give you the string feel you are used to.
Does anyone know what is the thickest string guage a stock rickenbacker 4003 nut could accomodate?

Clubs - 5 String, Black and Maple, Rickenbacker Jeff.
To make the nut slots wider or cut them deeper .

Which would increase the tension more? I guess it could be thought of backwards too, shorter scale or lower guage is less tension?

Of backwards too, shorter scale or lower guage is less tension? Longer scale length = higher string tension, shorter scale or lower guage is less tension? You could accomplish raising the tension substantially for a given tuning.....
Hey guys.. I recently got my Ibanez RG7621 (it's great! needs the pots replaced, along with the jack, but sounds mint). When I got it, I chucked on some standard 10-59's, and realised that 59 on the low b (which I tune to A) wasn't even staying in tune...

Too....
Call up sperzel and ask for a set with the low string drilled out to be stretched in to keep tune.
The best way to keep it all in tune is with locking tuners .
I use a 25.5 6 string and tune to G with 68 gauge on my low string.
Does anybody know what guage strings Hendrix used?

Using a regular E string for a B and sometimes a tenor A string for a little E (.010, .013, .015, .026 it easier for him to do string bends, which of course was one of Jimi's trademark techniques.
On Mon, 06 Apr 2009 17:04:18 -0500, MikeyG <contactbypost@hatespam.net I found it interesting in one of DaveG's A Shape Barre post where he mentioned: Very, shortly, after purchasing my 2004 Taylor 310ce, a few years ago, I took it to a local...

I have 12's on my acoustic 6 string, but a plain 18 for the G string so I can bend it easier a step or step and a half if needed (as thats my personal style , and a sacrifice I make for....
And before you get all over me for going light.
I want to know about acoustic steel strings. I want to know about light guage.

It would depend on a great many things: string gauge, construction, components, metal alloys used in the string, the heat treat on the metals, the scale length of the guitar and probably the angle of the string....
Try it and find out.
I recently converted my 5 string to a 6 string and I went with lighter gauge strings for the EADGC (100-80-60-40-30) but my Low B is a 130. Not a big deal, but it's a big string. I'd like to try a lighter gauge B string. Anyone know who makes the lightest...
