Don't you just hate it when a band steals a riff of a song you like? I really hate it.
"Black Veil Brides" stole the riff of Unholy Confessions by A7X for their song "Knives and Pens"

I don't see it as stealing though, as it's obvious to anyone who knows... .

riffs are more personal and complex, hence why it's notable when a riff is nabbed.

Ok more help. All I ever write are riffs some are even pretty catchy. But that's IT. I can't think of anything to work with them. No chords, no real melody. Nothing.
How does everyone else do it?

Record one of your favorite riffs, but just play the lowest strings instead of any chords.
You mean by "riffs" is the same as me, they're not going to be very helpful to your imagination IMO.

Who uses Slow Down software to Learn Songs? Any recommendations if you do? And how did anyone figure these things out in the good old days of vinyl; no looping, have to keep dropping the needle in the same spot with one hand while slowing down the turntable...
