Is there any replacement to the media extender box? I am having a hard time finding anything.

Try a keyword search of "extender replacement" and you should find them another way of playing a file.

AS previously posted, the HD200 and HD300 have no license requirements.
Both the HD200 and HD300 can and Placeshifter licenses are interchangable.
The only extender that came or needed a license was the HD100.
I am wanting to rip my blurays and put them on the harddrive to play on the HD200 extenders and my main client. I don't really care if its mkv, m2ts, etc. but I would like to do main movie only to save space. I tried using DVDFab to rip to MKV... this...

They all work fine connected to the HDMI1 and HDMI2 the HDMI ports in my receiver, since I had issues with my HD200 displaying a black picture when switch on Newegg and be done with it.
Devices I have are the HD100, HD200 and HD300.

Your tuners are digital so there is no processing the server needs to do .

Thanks Eddy I'm using this plugin successfully on a HD200 with my for tunes.
Thanks Good point, I forgot to mention that the plugin is for HD200 & HD300 only, however and SP/DIF are supported.
