I'd like to connect my PC to an HDTV using an HDMI-HDMI cable. The distance between them is about 8 m; is the length going to be an issue? I'm worried the signal might deteriorate over such a distance.
Also, does price have any major impact on the signal...

I'm using a 5m cable myself look for a certified HDMI 1.3a "Highspeed" cable.
There is no definitive max length specified in the HDMI specification.

If you want the higher resolution....
The xbox360 supports 1080p updated via XBL.
This link provides the official graph of which resolution is supported for which cable type.
Component can only handle a maximum of 1080i, while HDMI can handle 1080p.

I remember buying a single hdmi cable through them because a hdmi 1.4 gold plated, braided etc cable was cheaper from them, including courier than.
They are normally pretty quick but then I'm in gauteng .

I have put together a new PC with a XFX GeForce GTX 260 graphics card and have it connected to my HDTV.
First, I used an old VGA cable with a DVI to VGA adapter and plugged it in to my HDTV's VGA port. Running at 1920x1080 it fit the screen perfectly....
