So, this is my Cayman HF 110 that i modified a little. It came with the Omer america shaft with shark fins witch caught my gloves sometimes and wasn't easy on dyneema wishbones. I put two 16 mm bands instead of the single 18mm band. I put Q power line...

The HF's cuttlefish shape allows it to handle more power than a standard pipe gun annoyance with smaller bands - the band holes for the HF are so huge, since they need to allow well enough with the reel on and the shaft out....
Better choice.

I know a few folks here own a USRP.
I use mine with an LFRX board and an active antenna for HF reception. I use HDSDR and winrad for the most part for the software front end.
How does this compare to dedicated SDR receivers like Perseus, Excalibur etc...

The USRPs generally have more potential than one of the dedicated HF to plug it in and use....
The Excalibur or the Perseus seemed to me to be a better, more complete, turn key HF system than USRP with HF GPS Sync or similar features.

For single band work: : I have had more than 4... .
One rule of thumb is that if it ain't big and ugly it isn't going to be much good Tarheel I have had more than 40 different HF mobile antennas over my 50 ham career.
For the lower HF bands.

It's certainly a decent deal with....
You might do the same thing and then you'd have some TIG gear .
I'd clean it, paint the cover, make it sexy and turn it .
No one? Too far away or I'd grab it for resale (after keeping the TIG parts, filler and cylinder) .
