Insert your card into the ATM - two records are produced - one you normally receive, one the ATM or stamp of your card being used at the ATM with your bank verified PIN.

I was scheduled for a bill payment tonight by 8 and severely misjudged my time tonight and couldn't get home to make the payment by 8... Is there some way to avoid the late payment fee and stuff like that? It was submitted at about 10:15

If you are a new HSBC customer they may not let you slide..
Patience! Ryan Credit Card companies will sometimes work with long time customers and big spenders and help them out once or twice.

Best Buy doesn't back the card, hsbc does and they set never used a major credit card that DIDN'T have a payoff hold...
That is their stated policy so that is what occurs .
