I am going on a chartered Halibut trip on Saturday and I am curious why you are not allowed to fish for or retain any other species of fish while halibut are on board?? Anyone know??

We got lucky to day and got a 142 pound halibut once we got it up to the boat I had to shoot it with my 45 colt derringer with the lee 230 gr round nose to calm it down,it worked. Happy days I will be eating halibut for a while.

Launched at 7, back on the beach by 10:30. Excellent lingcod fishing plus a bonus halibut. Flat ocean until the south wind kicked in. Lots of rain, but hey, this is Oregon.
