Usually welding fume respirators are designed with the door wide open a respirator would make good sense as well as a decent fan to help remove the fumes.

If I was going to do that I'd build something to close off the area the bags attach and put a 6 inch minimum exhaust hose on one of the pieces if the exhaust from the impeller goes straight into the bags .

When the car is up to temp what does it read at? There must be something resting on the heater matrix smoldering away, the heat wont burn its self even if there was an air lock as the coolant temp will be around 85c max, no where near making a fire .
