Hey, i'm thinking of buying my first stack in the coming months, and i have a question. is it alright to put a pretty good head (Marshall, etc.) with a cheap (harley benton, etc.) cab? or should i buy the marshall cab to go with the marshall head?

That way youIt's perfectly fine, but you may not like the sound in comparison to a cab with decent speakers.
I'd spend my money on a lower wattage head and a higher quality cab.

Finally going to get a head cab for my 18W DC (when I get may tax return in couple weeks) so I'm interested in seeing what you have on yours. I dig the plexi glass cab that DZ has and I am sure some of you have a really cool cabs too. Post some pictures...

He does great work but is incredibly slow, it took him seven weeks to build the head cab definitely gonna win....
Sourmash also did the tweed speaker cab in the first.
cabs, and C3 Amps for the SLO style head cab.

In my continuing search for an amp upgrade I am once again turning to the Talkbass community. You've talked me out of the Rumble 150 with 4X10 cab new and steered me to used so here's what I am looking at now.

It and makes a great back-up to whatever boutique head you end up with in the future-- this backs up with mine If it was mint looking and as old as it is I'd try to get 200-250 for it,,, with the cab head....
