Why should tools and heated styling Equipment should be kept from product build up?

Product build up blocks the heat which can damage the equipment, it also the built up product burns.

It looks really pretty! Nice! I'd try spritzing as you go too, maybe then the ends will curl a little more .

I haven't tried it, but maybe it would work better if you spritz each pieces as you wrap it, instead of at the end .

I am looking for a good heat protectant that isn't drying. I usually let my hair air dry. I do like to curl it or flat iron it occasionally and need a heat protectant that will protect my hair from the high heat. Most heat protectants contain alcohol....

Any it with a constant high heat.
Wen's styling creme is a heat protectant...works well...
But they are expensive.

Bit random but I fancy doing my hair curly because it has a natural wave to it anyway but whenever I have attempted it, it just looks messy! Anyone got any tips? Do I scrunch it when wet or do I need to use tongs or curlers? It would take ages curling...
