Are you using? Are you using a thermostat? I've never had a heat pad go out if it was on the thermostat, before then, they were burning out about once a month from over heating.

Can you cook your kidneys with a heating pad?" -- A heating pad doesn't use microwaves, you know vessels and muscle before the heat ever reached your kidneys.

My new Sphynx boy, Rudy, likes to lay in the sun coming in the window. Is there a chance he could get sunburned?
Also wondering how many of you use a heating pad for your babies.

I have a 36x18x18 Exo... what heating pad should I get? Inside the tank or on the bottom, I do have a zoomed rheostat, but I also have linoleum I can place inside the tank and put the heat pad under that? Who makes the best heat pad? I saw the Big Apple...
Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at faunaclassifieds):
No heat pad temp gun the hot a lot to make sure the rheostat did not fail and put full power to the heat pad.% http://www.reptilebasics.com....
I would pick up 2 feet of 11X12 flexwatt and ditch the rheostat and get a thermostat .
