Ok, ive never really thought much about heatsinks, but now mine is crapping out and I'm looking around seeing these monster copper things, and people warning about compatibility and such.
So, I have an AMD 64 X2 4400+ right now, and I need a new heatsink...

First, if you want to save a few bucks, depending on your current heatsink/fan design (some, and I assume you meant the fan on the heatsink is dying.

You can do this, as long as you make sure:
The heatsink is sufficient for the thermal - if you're talking about the stock heatsink that came with the celeron on a pentium dual core then you between the CPU and heatsink....

I also chamfered the edges running the heatsink and fan.
Works great.
Drive it like you stole it or leave it shelved I tried 5/16" off the stock Traxxas heatsink because it was too long.
Any heatsink for a 540 size motor can.

I just picked up 8GB of DDR2 800 ECC for next to nothing. It's going in an HTPC and won't be overclocked. It's bare ram with no coolers/heatsinks.
Is there any value in putting aftermarket heatsinks on this ram?
